Lahore, September 4, 2024 – The International Conference on Software & Physical Sciences, hosted by Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), commenced successfully today with a well-attended inaugural session, marking a significant milestone in fostering interdisciplinary research. The conference, co-located with the 2nd Graduate Physics Conference, attracted participants from various academic and professional fields.
The Inaugural Session, held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, was graced by several esteemed guests. Among the invited dignitaries were Mr. Ahsan Raza, MPA, Guest of Honour Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor of LCWU, and Distinguished Guest Engr. Dr. Shahzadi Tayyaba, Associate Professor at the University of Education, Lahore, whose presence added prestige to the event. The session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat and the National Anthem, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the proceedings.
Prof. Dr. Safia Anjum, Chairperson of the Physics Department at LCWU, delivered the Welcome Note, emphasizing the significance of the conference in advancing scientific research. Following this, Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Nazir, Chairperson of the Software Engineering Department at LCWU, expressed his gratitude in a Note of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers in making the event a success. Dr. Aneeqa Sabah, serving as the conference secretary, was also recognized for her meticulous coordination and contribution to the event’s success. The presence of Dr. Muhammad Afzal, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, as a Special Guest, further highlighted the conference’s importance and continuity in academic excellence.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Shahid Rafique, Dean of Natural Sciences at UET, Lahore, who provided valuable insights into the latest advancements in the field, inspiring attendees to explore new research avenues.
After the inaugural session, participants enjoyed a tea break and engaged in poster presentations in the corridor of the Conference Room, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and discussing ongoing research projects.
The conference proceeded with its first session from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM, chaired by Dr. Zeba Israr, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at LCWU. This session featured presentations from distinguished speakers such as Dr. Amina Afzal and Ms. Maryam Anwar, who shared their research findings on various cutting-edge topics.
Parallel sessions also took place, chaired by Dr. Aliya Khalid, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at LCWU, where additional presenters showcased their work. These sessions concluded with a question-and-answer segment, followed by closing remarks from the session chairs.
The day culminated in a ceremony to present shields and certificates to the participants, recognizing their valuable contributions to the conference. The organizing committee, including Dr. Mohsin Nazir and Dr. Safia Anjum, extended their appreciation for the support and active participation of all attendees.
